BITCOIN CORNER AT BINAES

Open 24/7, The Bitcoin Zone at the National Library of El Salvador (BINAES) is a dedicated space for Bitcoin education and resources, designed to promote engagement with the Bitcoin network and the ideas that come along with it. Resources are available in Spanish and English, and visitors can view the Bitcoin network in action through the National Node.

Proposed by a CUBO+ student in 2024, the Bitcoin Zone officially opened on Bitcoin Day in 2025, marking the fourth anniversary of El Salvador’s adoption of the Bitcoin Law and Bitcoin as legal tender.

    Increasing Bitcoin Accessibility and Literacy

The goal of the Bitcoin Zone is to provide a neutral setting where the Bitcoin-curious, students, researchers, and digital finance enthusiasts and professionals can discover resources, community, and education in their collective field of interest.

Designed as an accessible–to-all addition to the Bitcoin Office’s more focused education initiatives such as the Civil Service Certification, the Bitcoin Zone, through its simple presence and public accessibility, helps demystify Bitcoin and promote financial and cryptocurrency literacy in El Salvador.

Boosting Access to Knowledge and Understanding

An array of books and resources is available to visitors, covering a range of topics including Bitcoin economics, monetary theory, Bitcoin’s technical foundations, and the philosophical and monetary implications of Bitcoin.

In addition to the literature, which visitors can sit and read or borrow and take home, there is also a display connected to the National Node, which runs on-site at the library. This display shows the official website for tracking El Salvador’s Bitcoin reserve in real-time.

Uniting El Salvador’s Past and Future

The National Library of El Salvador opened in 2023 and sits right in the heart of San Salvador’s Centro Histórico. It shares a plaza with the National Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral of El Salvador and is home to El Salvador’s National Art Collection and the National Archive.
